Driving (never mind owning) a Ferrari 488 GTB would be more than pleasure enough for most of us. But for those looking for something more, the 488 Pista could be just the ticket. Then the Prancing Horse revealed the Piloti Ferrari edition.
A special-edition appearance package for the Pista, the Piloti Ferrari celebrates the client racing drivers who campaign Maranello’s finest on race tracks around the world, and particularly Alessadro Pier Guidi and James Calardo, who drove AF Corse’s #51 488 GTE to victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship last year.
It features a unique livery with racing stripes and graphics, along with a matte-black S-duct on the nose and ducktail spoiler at the back. Ferrari revealed the visually enhanced Pista in Rosso Corsa, but announced it would come in three other colors as well. And now our friends at Motor1 have shared images of those, too.
Available in Blu Tour de France, Nero Daytona, and Argento Nurburgring, these special editions apply the same aesthetic treatment as the red one we’ve seen, but on different base colors. The interior is the same across all four versions, with black Alcantara upholstery, carbon-fiber trim, and tricolore Italian flag motif.
Otherwise the Piloti Ferrari edition is the same as any other 488 Pista. And that’s nothing to cough at, packing a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 kicking 710 horsepower (530 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels for a 2.86-second 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time and a top speed in excess of 211 mph (340 km/h).
So what do you think? Would you go for the red, the blue, the black, or the silver? Or would you rather leave the boy-racer look alone and go for the “standard” Pista? Or pass on the model altogether?
