Glohh Unveils New Taillight System For Range Rover Sport

Glohh, a British firm specializing in automotive light design, unveiled a new taillight system specifically built for the latest-generation Range Rover Sport.

Dubbed the GL-5i, the new taillights feature a dynamic start-up display (DSD), which is an active light sequence that brings “unprecedented road theater” to an already imposing SUV. Also available are a 3D brake light, enhanced aerodynamics, a sharp sequential indicator and a hidden reverse light.

“The worldwide introduction of a new Glohh product is always a spectacular moment, and we are delighted by the positive response we have received by the cognoscenti,” stated Glohh design boss, Dr Faheem Rafiq. “The GL-5i rear light demonstrates the strengths of our brand in both expertise and design. We’ve fused innovative technology with pulsating features creating a more visible light, increasing awareness and safety. We wanted to provide Range Rover owners an alternative design with futuristic features previously unavailable.”

The design of the GL-5i is meant to further emphasize the Range Rover Sport’s broad stance, while adding a sharp, predatory accent, according to Glohh.

A single fluid line acts as a position light, while the DSD signature acts as an animated, fast-moving light cycle that goes to work every time the driver unlocks the car. Meanwhile, the 3D brake light has four three-dimensional scintillators that activate individually in a distinctive and fluid fashion – when the driver brakes, traffic in adjacent lanes “see an isotopic hue of light, while a more concentrated light is seen by drivers directly behind, aiding reaction times.

The sequential indicator is all-new and said to deliver a shaper sweep of light thanks to 15 light emitting diodes programmed to illuminate in rapid-flow succession. Then there’s the reverse light, which projects pure white light through a geometrical optic lens designed to channel rays specifically to the near, lateral and mid-field range.

Also, the GL-5i taillight can aid aerodynamics too, thanks to its outer surfaces which have been optimized to channel air away from and around the car.

Prices for the GL-5i are as follows: £949 for the UK market, €979 for the European market and $1,199 for all other countries.
