Fast wagons will always hold a special place in our heart, especially those with ridiculous amounts of power. Cars like the Mercedes AMG E63 S and the Audi RS6 Performance for example.
Both of them feature their own unique swollen bodywork, both of them hide a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 under the bonnet and both of them power all four wheels. That makes them not only super fast and super cool, but also capable of tackling all weather conditions with confidence.
And yes, it may be a bit unfair to compare the old Audi against the more modern Mercedes but, as Carfection finds out in their comparison, the RS6 still puts up a strong fight against the E63 S.
Ok, so the age of the RS6 really shows when you start comparing them from the inside; the Mercedes offers a way more special environment, with its beautifully integrated displays surrounded by expensive materials whereas the Audi is clearly one generation behind.
It doesn’t matter which one is faster on the track that much because pretty much no one will bring a large wagon to a track day but if you did, the Mercedes would be the faster car of the two. It has a more agile chassis and a more alert character than the Audi which scores better at long-distance trips.
Which one would you pick?
