Most people would probably driver slower after getting a speeding ticket. At least in the immediate aftermath. But Chauntl Wilson is apparently not “most people.”
The resident of nearby Council Bluffs, Iowa, was reportedly driving her yellow 2018 Ford Mustang late this past Friday night on I-80 near Lincoln, Nebraska, (just an hour away) when she was pulled over for speeding. She received a ticket for doing 92 miles per hour in a 75 zone – enough to be stopped, certainly, but not enough to be detained. So she was let go.
“And boy did she go,” reports Fox News. She peeled off “very rapidly” and was subsequently clocked going 142 – nearly double the speed limit – by the county sheriff’s deputy who had just stopped her and written her the ticket. The officer pursued, and after initially refusing to pull over again, Wilson eventually did, and was arrested for reckless driving.
What’s more is that “a small amount” of marijuana was found inside the car, which may or may not lead to additional charges.
Now we don’t know exactly which model of Mustang she was driving. But considering that Wilson was clocked within just seven miles of the EcoBoost model’s top speed, we have a hard time imagining it wasn’t at least a Mustang GT. The EcoBoost Mustang packs a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated, in its latest form, at 310 horsepower (231 kW) and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque. The 2018 Ford Mustang GT features a 5.0-liter V8 good for 460 hp (343 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque. The previous base V6 model was discontinued in 2017.
