The upper niche of the premium SUV segment is currently on fire, and BMW, who only last month launched the fourth generation of the X5, is already busy testing the range-topping 5 M at the Nurburgring.
The M Division-developed super SUV is still wearing camo, thus hiding the details that will set the production model apart from the lesser versions.
Of course, we expect it to have a sportier look, with new front and rear fascias, lowered ride height, quad tailpipes and larger wheels and brakes, and we already know what will be under the bonnet of the all-new X5 M: a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, with reports talking about 600PS (592hp / 442kW) for a 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) acceleration in the upper 3-second range.

Understandably, BMW remains tight-lipped when it comes to the unveiling date. Given that the 2019 X5 is just a month old, we’d be surprised if they decide to bring it to the 2018 Paris Auto Show, at the beginning of October; an LA or Detroit presentation seems much more likely, but then again, since nothing is official yet, we’ll just have to wait and see.
