The problem with beating a Tesla Model S P100D in a drag race is that you can’t afford to lose any time off the line. Luckily, all of its challengers here were equipped with all-wheel drive, leveling the field out a bit.
So then what does it take to take on the Model S’ instant torque and epic all-electric acceleration? In the BMW M760’s case, a twin turbo V12 putting down 610 PS (601 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
Despite its size, the BMW can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just under 4 seconds, something the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate can also claim thanks to its twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. Power and torque figures stand at 612 PS (604 HP) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft)respectively, and its 0-100 (0-62 mph) time is 3.5 seconds.
Last, but certainly not least, is the 605 PS (597 HP) Audi RS6 Performance, that on paper needs just 3.7 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph).
The video was shot with a 360-degree camera, and if you pan towards the Tesla, you’ll see that its driver didn’t have a really fast reaction time off the line. Still, this turned out to be quite a race – which, given the calibre of the cars that took part, was to be expected. Did the vaunted Germans manage to beat the Tesla? Click and thou shall find out.
