It might be hard to believe, but the truth is that the 10 millionth Ford Mustang has just left the automaker’s assembly line in Michigan.
The Mustang has been in production since March 1964, and in that time, has transitioned through six different generations and remains one of the best-selling muscle cars of all time. In fact, Ford’s decision to sell the latest Mustang around the world has helped it to become the world’s best-selling sports car.
Taking to Instagram, Evan J. Smith published two photos of the car, which is a rather nondescript 2019 Mustang Convertible outfitted with the 5.0-liter V8 engine and painted white.
This isn’t just any shade of white, however. Smith says this Mustang is painted in Wimbledon White, the same shade that adorned the very first Mustang Convertible pre-production model that was ever sold.
While it would have been understandable for Ford to produce an outlandish one-off to celebrate this milestone, it’s rather refreshing that the automaker has instead opted for something that slides under the radar.
The Blue Oval will hold a ceremony at the Mustang factory to celebrate the milestone later this week.
Taking a more in-depth look at the published Instagram posts and you may notice a hashtag that reads #notforsale. This may indicate that Ford itself will keep the car rather than sell it to a private buyer. Whatever turns out to be the case, it is inevitable that this Mustang Convertible will be a highly prized collectable in the decades to come.
