The E46-generation BMW M3 may not be the fastest vehicle adorned with the marque’s M badge, but to this day, it remains extremely desirable and is viewed as one of the most driver-focused M3s ever.
Because it is so good to drive, it’s almost impossible to find used examples which haven’t been driven more than 100,000 miles and frequently taken to their limits. This M3, however, currently for sale on Bring A Trailer, isn’t like most. In fact, it’s almost perfect.
For starters, the car has a mere 176 miles (283 km) under its belt, meaning it is essentially brand new. The seller claims that they purchased the car three months ago when it had just 50 miles (80 km) on the odometer after being stored for 14 years in an outdoor carport by its first owner.
What’s more, the car includes the optional Premium Package which adds a moonroof, xenon lighting, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The exterior is painted in Carbon Black while the interior also features black Nappa leather.
Sounds perfect, right? Well it would be, except for the fact that it features the lackluster 6-speed SMG II transmission. This gearbox is far less desirable than the six-speed manual and is known to have some reliability issues. Plus, of course, it’s also just not as fun to drive as the stick-shift.
If there’s one saving grace, it’s the fact that, because the car has covered so few miles, it’s SMG should be in as-new condition.
At the time of writing, the highest bid was $30,000 with five days remaining until the auction closes.
