In a bid to promote the 2019 Z4 ahead of its Pebble Beach premiere, the German automaker published these sketches of the car, which give off the impression that the production car will have very few changes from the concept.

However, as recent images have revealed revealed, this won’t be the case.

Starting at the front, the car depicted in these new images adopts a pair of truly massive air intakes in the front bumper. Additionally, it includes brushed chrome kidney grille surrounds, radical black and silver wheels, and aggressive creases along the sides.

In reality, the production-spec Z4 will be slightly tamer. but to BMW‘s credit, it still looks extremely appealing. For starters, the Z4’s front fascia has been reigned in for the street with a slightly larger grille and more rounded headlights. The wheels are also different and the side creases are barely visible.

As for the rear, it too is modified. Key changes include slightly thicker taillights, a less radical diffuser, and a more subtle lip spoiler.

BMW’s Facebook post confirms that the Z4 to be presented in Pebble Beach will be the ‘First Edition’. It remains to be seen how many examples of this model will be built, though they will certainly come at a premium over the standard model and be outfitted with some unique parts.

One variant we know more about is the M40i. It will use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six delivering 380 hp and, as no BMW Z4M is coming, shall be the range-topping model.
