BMW has teamed up with Lufthansa Cargo so as to take their Vision iNEXT World Flight presentation on a tour of four major cities on three continents over the span of five days.

Over 300 international media members will board the flight on a Boeing 777F, as the aircraft will fly to Munich, New York, San Francisco and Beijing. Upon landing, guests will then get to see the vehicle as part of an exclusive closed room concept.

According to BMW, more than 7.5 km (4.6 miles) of wiring have been laid out, together with 78,000 LEDs in 165 video LED modules and ten 13,000 ANSI lumen projectors. The idea was to make the inside of that Boeing 777F appeal to all senses.

The guests are expected to arrive eight hours after the plane lands, although four hours after the presentation, the jet will take off again for its next destination. Timing is said to be tight, seen as how the inside of the plane will need to be converted from Presentation Mode to Flight Mode and back quickly and safely.

“Visionary products deserve visionary presentations. We are delighted to have made this extraordinary world premiere possible in cooperation with BMW,” stated Peter Gerber, CEO and Chairman of Lufthansa Cargo AG.

Meanwhile, Klaus Fröhlich, member of the board of management at BMW, had this to say: “iNEXT is our mobility proposition for the future, so it’s only logical that the BMW Vision iNEXT should be presented to a global audience in a fresh new style. The World Flight is a fitting way to get the ball rolling.”

As for the plane’s exterior look, it’s said to take its cues from the interior design created for the vehicle presentation.

The 777F will take off from Munich airport on September 9, and after traveling to New York, San Francisco and Beijing, it will touch down again in its home base in Frankfurt, September 14.
