Bowler will inject new life into the Land Rover Defender when it releases its latest model in the coming weeks.
Previewed with a single teaser image, Bowler’s newest Defender-based model will be road-oriented, rather than an off-road and race-focused vehicle like most of Bowler’s past creations.
Underpinning the vehicle will be Bowler’s own Cross Sector Platform, which is flexible enough to be used for multiple body styles, including a potential 6×6 layout. Additionally, this platform can support common electrical architectures, powertrains and drivetrains.
The teaser image shows that the off-roader will be wider than the standard Defender and looks to have a very appealing and menacing stance. Few other details about the vehicle are known, other than the fact that it will utilize a powerful V8 engine.
It seems likely that Bowler received the impetus to create this road-focused model due to ongoing demand for the now-defunct Defender.
A couple of months ago, we had the opportunity to drive a different Land Rover Defender currently being built, this time from Italian coachbuilder Ares Design. Our short experience with the vehicle proved that the Defender really is timeless.
Meanwhile, Land Rover is hard at work developing an all-new generation Defender. Design work on the vehicle was completed late last year ahead of an expected launch in 2019.
