Just a couple months after being built, YouTuber and skier Jon Olsson is selling his custom Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² Convertible.
The social media star has yet to announce the sale of the vehicle, but we recently stumbled on this listing for the off-roader at Cohen & Cunlid on Mobile.de, a high-end dealer in Marbella, Spain, near where Olsson lives.
The vehicle ain’t cheap. In fact, it may take you a while to digest how much it’ll set back its next owner. Listed at €699,000 ($797,000), the bespoke G500 is well over double the figure of the 4×4²’s high sticker price of €226,100 ($257,000). While it’s unclear how much Olsson spent having it transformed into a convertible, he stands to make a serious amount of money from its sale.
It remains to be seen if the G’s off-roading ability has been compromised.
Olsson’s impetus to build a convertible G500 4×4² came from a desire to ensure his off-roader could fit into the low parking garages in Monaco. To ensure the vehicle does that, the roof was removed, the windshield was shortened and the B- and C-pillars were cut off. The result is a G-Class that can only be driven when there’s no rain around.
Beyond the removal of the roof, Olsson also had the vehicle outfitted with a range of mechanical modifications, bumping power from the twin-turbo V8 to a formidable 780 hp. Also included are a black and white camouflage wrap, a roof rack, Akrapovic exhaust system, wheels and tires from a G63 6×6, and a heavy-duty winch up front.
Olsson isn’t a stranger to flipping his project cars as, earlier this year, he sold his modified Audi RS6 after just a few months of ownership.
