If you have an appreciation for early to mid-2000’s luxury saloons, then you might be interested in something like this W220 S-Class flagship, powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine.
The car is being auctioned off on Bring a Trailer as a 2006 model, which should mean that it was among the last W220 S65 cars to come off the production line in 2005. Also, despite having several panels resprayed, it really does appear to be in tip top shape.
Aside from the more aggressive looks and necessary AMG badging, the car also features a re-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, split 5-spoke AMG wheels and a really well-spec’d interior.
There’s loads of black leather spread throughout the cabin, with contrasting burl wood on the dash, center console and door panels. The front seats are both heated and cooled and feature dynamic adjustment and massage functions. As for rear passengers, they get retractable window shades, electrically operated seats and rear air conditioning.
Now for the piece de resistance, which is the twin-turbo V12 power unit, sending 604 HP (612 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels with the aid of a 5-speed automatic transmission. The best part is that it has just 32,448 miles (52,220 km) on the clock, which isn’t bad at all for a luxury saloon that’s more than a dozen years old.
The car comes with a clean title and service history, and at the time of writing the highest bid was $17,500 with two days remaining ’till the end of the auction. From where we stand, that’s a lot of car for your money, if you can stomach the service costs…
