Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow Evokes The Past With Future Tech

What you’re looking at is the Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow Concept, a vehicle with so much sex appeal that it beggars belief. Presented during Monterey Car Week, the vcar has been created as a homage to the record-breaking Mercedes W125 from 1937.

Penned by Mercedes-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener, the EQ Silver Arrow Concept epitomizes the firm’s ‘Sensual Purity’ design philosophy and provides seating for just one person.

The vehicle’s entire body is made of lightweight carbon fiber and all up, it measures 5.3 meters (17.3 feet) long and is finished in a shade dubbed Alubeam Silver. Up front, you’ll notice a strip of light attaching the two headlights as well as an illuminated EQ badge at the front end. A lighting strip is also found stretching the length of the side skirts where another EQ badge is located.

Other intriguing design elements of the vehicle include wheel covers that cover just the front half of the wheels, a rear wing that deploys outwards and upwards like the Mercedes-AMG Project One’s wing, and a large shark fin stretching back from the cockpit.

Speaking of the cabin, saddle brown leather adorns the seat and steering wheel while polished aluminum and solid walnut accents add a level of style and sophistication to the car. Additionally, the EQ Silver Arrow Concept incorporates a panoramic screen directly in front of the driver and can display a host of functions, including a virtual race option that displays a ‘ghost’ car which they can race against.

Mercedes-Benz has also incorporated a touchscreen on the steering wheel where the driver can opt between Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ driving modes. In a bid to give the vehicle some proper emotion, drivers can also select for the car to emit the sound of a Formula 1 car or a Mercedes-AMG V8.

In case you didn’t already guess, the EQ Silver Arrow is powered by an all-electric powertrain. The marque imagines it to pair an 80 kWh battery with electric motors delivering a combined 750 hp. This would allow for blistering acceleration and a range of up to 400 km (248 miles).
