Last year, Dacia unveiled the second generation of the Duster SUV. It may look almost the same, but the Romanian automaker, which is owned by Renault, says that all body panels are entirely new.
We reckon the automaker chose to preserve the original’s styling as they didn’t want to mess with a winning recipe, as the first Duster was quite well received.
The 2018 Duster is still very affordable. In fact, it starts from under £10,000 ($12,998/€11,235) in the United Kingdom. So, what do you get for the money? Well, not that much if you choose the entry-level grade, but at least you get the essentials, including air conditioning and an infotainment system.

The seats were re-designed, too, so they’re now more comfortable and offer more side support. Speaking of comfort, the new Duster is surprisingly good on long journeys, as long as you doesn’t rev the 1.6-liter petrol engine too much. Thanks to the extra sound deadening and thicker glass, the SUV is quieter than its predecessor, yet engine noise at high revs is still noticeable.
The Duster is also very practical, as it has a generous boot and enough space on the rear bench to sit three adults, although keeping the price as low as possible means that plastics might be improved, but they’re still hard and easy to scratch, and there’s still no automatic emergency braking system, even as an optional extra.
All in all, the Dacia Duster delivers more than you’d expect from it, according to CarBuyer’s review, which you can watch in the video that follows.
