Mercedes-Benz is some two months away from officially pulling the covers off the new generation GLE, at the 2018 Paris Auto Show.

In the meantime however, development continues, and this latest video to feature the brand’s BMW X5 and Audi Q7 fighter provides us with a first look at some of its features, in a very review-y manner. Straight from the start, the new generation Mercedes-Benz GLE is said to be more comfortable than the current one.

Also, it can go off-roading too, if required, and has adjustable suspension that raises or lowers the body accordingly. However, if the driver chooses to continuously push the button, then the premium mid-size SUV will actually jump around, as demonstrated on film below.

The engine lineup is said to start with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six petrol, with a 48V mild-hybrid system and 380 horsepower. In the USA and China, Mercedes-Benz will reportedly launch the new GLE with a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine too, with some 240-250hp.

A couple of V8 engines, one of them from the S-Class and the other powering the AMG models, will be part of the offering, joined by a bunch of diesels. Further down the road, Mercedes-Benz is also expected to launch a plug-in hybrid version.

Due to the camouflage that’s present on the outside and in the cabin of the tested prototype, the reviewer couldn’t tell us much about the SUV’s styling. However, previous scoops revealed that Merc’s all-new GLE will adopt a sleeker design, with lots of aerodynamic improvements.
