Former French striker and soccer icon Thierry Henry has agreed to return as brand ambassador for Renault, which will see him star in a new series of TV idents over the course of the 2018/2019 Premier League season.

Renault and Henry have collaborated in the past, specifically back in 2002 when the then-Arsenal player worked on Renault’s ‘Va Va Voom’ series of adverts. Two years later, that phrase was officially added to the Concise Oxford English Dictionary.

Now, the ex-footballer and French automaker will collaborate on a series of idents, which will carry the hashtag #withyoualltheway and feature real Premier League fans as well as several Renault models such as the Clio, Captur and the all-new Megane RS.

“It feels great to reignite my long-stating ‘liaison’ with Renault, especially as I’m returning to the team during its first journey into football. Having played in stadiums across the world I know first-hand the passion fans have for both life and their favourite sport. I’m looking forward to helping Renault publicly celebrate this passion over the course of the Premier League season, while injecting some ‘Va Va Voom’ back into British football,” stated Henry.

Meanwhile, Renault UK exec, Vincent Tourette added: “We’re delighted to welcome Thierry back to Renault to lead the line in our new TV idents on Sky Sports. We’ve just enjoyed an amazing World Cup summer in which we were reminded of football’s power to bring out the best in us all, and we can’t wait to carry that on into the Premier League season with Thierry at the helm as we explore a sport that links very strongly with Renault’s ‘Passion for Life’ ethos.”

Thierry Henry had a 20-year long professional soccer career, in which he played nearly 800 games for clubs such as Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, FC Barcelona and New York Red Bulls. He remains however best-known for his performance at Arsenal, where he scored 228 goals in 376 games.
