Following a military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk, a T-34 tank fell off the platform on which it was being loaded, and rolled over nearly crushing three men in uniform.
The Battle of Kursk took place in 1943 during the Second World War, and saw Soviet forces clash with the Germans, on Russian soil. The Red Army emerged victorious, which of course, is cause of celebration.
Yet, often, military parades are frowned upon, especially with most parts of the world now at peace. Even U.S. President Donald Trump wanted a grand parade to showcase America’s military prowess, although it was cancelled.
Not only can these types of events be stressful for the troops, but sometimes, they can put people’s lives at risk, just as it happened here. All it takes is one mistake or misstep and you could find yourself face to face with a piece of heavy machinery.
The fact that this incident took place as the parade was being concluded makes little to no difference.
People should definitely be more careful when operating such heavy vehicles The T-34 weighs roughly 26 tonnes, despite its rather compact dimensions, so anybody who’s not qualified shouldn’t go anywhere near it.
