Toyota UK has started delivering the first customer examples of the new Land Cruiser Utility Commercial model, the first of its kind to be offered in Great Britain.
Toyota’s new commercial vehicle will be available in both three- and five-door bodystyles. In both cases, the rear seats have been removed, creating a generous load space that extends to 1,574 litres in the short-wheelbase model and 2,216 litres in the long-wheelbase one.
In terms of payload, the respective maximum weights are up to 593 and 756kg (1307lbs and 1,666lbs respectively). Both bodystyles are capable of towing braked trailers of up to three tonnes.
The newly created load space comes fitted with a durable, edge-to-edge and non-slip flat floor tray. A full-height metal bulkhead is also provided, featuring a mesh top section and a hatch for easier access. Five-door models get fully-functioning rear doors, with their windows blanked out with a body-colored film.
Power comes from a 2.8-liter D-4D turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that makes 175hp and up to 331lb-ft of peak torque. A six-speed manual transmission is fitted as standard. The permanent four-wheel drive system features a Torsen limited-slip differential in the middle, as well as the obligatory low-range option.
Prices for the short-wheelbase Land Cruiser start from £27,546, while the longer five-door model is priced from £28,509.
