British EV hypercar-maker Dendrobium Automotive brought its 1,800 HP all-electric D-1 model to the 2018 Salon Privé garden party as production is nearly ready to begin.
In the coming months, we are to learn everything we need to know about the D-1, including pricing, range, production run and full performance specs. The D-1 hypercar was developed in the UK with the support and expertise of the Williams Formula 1 team.
“After an extensive career in the supercar industry, I can honestly say that Dendrobium Automotive is one of the most exciting and future-focused businesses I’ve ever been involved with,” stated the company’s Chairman and CEO, Nigel Gordon-Stewart. “Using the very latest technology, we are developing what will be the most impressive all-electric hypercar. We are designing our own in-house all-electric power train and we plan to use our own power storage cells moving to solid state as and when the technology is reliable and financially viable.”
At Salon Privé, visitors had the chance to admire the hypercar first-hand, from its futuristic exterior design (which includes the Bio-Aerial Locomotion door and roof opening system), to the predominantly black carbon fiber interior – inspired by human muscle fibers.
As of right now, the only performance specs known about the D-1 are its 1,800 HP (1,825 PS) and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque, although these numbers are currently just targets that the company is hoping to hit.
Those of you who’d rather not wait until the real thing comes out can opt for the recently-launched 1:18 scale model (via Dendrobium’s online store), which is limited to just 500 pieces, each costing $250.
