If you ask most Honda fans what discontinued model they would like to see brought back, chances are they’d tell you the S2000.

2019 will mark ten years since the last S2000 rolled off the assembly line, so an all-new generation would be a fantastic surprise from Honda. Unfortunately, there aren’t signs pointing at something like that happening anytime soon.

Well, at least we can take refuge in the digital world, where there’s a constant stream of fresh Honda S2000 renderings. Just take a look at this superb illustration signed by rendering artist Jon Sibal. Posted on his Instagram account, the image explores what the S2000 would look like if it were to use Honda’s current styling language.

In Sibal’s own words, the rendering represents “my slight update on the S2K integrating some current design cues while retaining the original form.” We have to admit he has really nailed it with this one, and chances are you’ll be struggling to find a single detail that looks out of place. We know we did.

We’re most impressed with the way Sibal grafted the NSX-inspired front end to the S2000, complete with a V-shaped grille and a pair of sleek, recessed headlights. The front bumper looks spectacular as well, as do the gills in the front fenders and the sculpted bonnet.

Knowing that Honda most likely won’t be bringing back the S2000 anytime soon, maybe Jon Sibal should build this body kit for real. Judging from the comments he received, there might be quite a few customers ready to make the upgrade.
