With Stephan Winkelmann at the helm since January, Bugatti developed the Divo, a limited edition hypercar based on the Chiron.
Now, Winkelmann’s ambitions are stretching further, as he expressed his interest in adding a second model to the automaker’s range. Speaking to CarAdvice, the Bugatti CEO didn’t say what type of body style is on his mind.
“It’s clear that if we do something different from a super sports car, something different from the Chiron, then it would not be enough just to be in love with one type of car”, he said. “We would look very different at every body style and also regional demand, see what is going up and what is going down, and also in terms of pricing. We would not put our money into something which is fading.”
For now, the biggest problem with the rumored second model from Bugatti is securing adequate funding for research and development, as Winkelmann admitted. “We will have to see if we can find [the investment], this is something we are still waiting for, because the [Volkswagen] Group has significant investments in projects like autonomous driving and electric cars.”

The Australian website believes that Bugatti’s potential second vehicle could actually be an SUV, in the same vein as the Lamborghini Urus, which was Winkelmann’s brainchild. Of course, the VW Group would draw a clear line between a possible Bugatti SUV and the Urus, so there would be no cross-shopping between the two.
Still, we cannot help but wonder whether the rumored model might be the mysterious four-door coupe scooped at the end of August. It was spied just outside the company’s Design Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany, and has quite a few similarities to the Chiron that are visible even from beneath the cover.
Unlike the Galibier Concept, which was presented 9 years ago with a front-engine and all-wheel drive layout, this prototype appears to be mid-engined.
Fueling the idea of a Bugatti sedan hitting assembly in the near future is Wolfgang Durheimer, the brand’s former President, who last year stated that a four-door model could still be on the cards.
