Haas will continue to field the same driver lineup next year as they have been since 2017, as both Romain Grosjean and Keven Magnusen have been retained.
The French driver has been with the American team since its inception back in 2016, while Magnussen was brought in two years ago to replace Esteban Gutierrez.
“From the very beginning, we needed experienced drivers to hasten the development of our car and our team, and we have two very good and experienced drivers in Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. We’ve improved drastically from last year to this year, so retaining both drivers was a pretty easy decision,” stated Haas team boss, Guenther Steiner.
This has been Haas’ third season ever in Formula 1 and the team is currently fifth in the Constructors’ Standings with 76 points, just 15 points shy of fourth-place Renault. At this rate, they are on pace to break the 100-point barrier in 2018, after tallying just 29 points in 2016 and 47 points last year.
“I think the 100-point barrier should be and will be broken and we’ll do it with Romain and Kevin,” added Steiner. “It’s not a coincidence that in their second year as teammates, Haas F1 Team is having its best year. By keeping Romain and Kevin together, we aim to do even better next year.”
As for how the two drivers feel about racing for Haas in 2019, they both expressed happiness and pride with regards to what the team has accomplished in a relatively short period of time by Formula 1 standards. Magnussen went as far as to say that he has never been “in a better situation than the one I’m in here at Haas.”
Right now, only Force India, Toro Rosso and Williams have yet to confirm who will be racing for them next year.
