The next-generation Range Rover Evoque, tipped to launch as a 2019 model, has been spied testing by Carscoops reader Luca Mazibrada.
This particular prototype was seen doing the rounds in Mosely in the UK and looks largely identical to other camouflaged Evoques scooped elsewhere in recent months.
Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice about the new Evoque is that it looks almost identical to the outgoing model and may initially appear to simply be a facelifted model. The familiar looks are especially surprising considering how the styling of the Range Rover family has evolved since the outgoing Evoque was first launched.
Pictured here in five-door guise, the 2019 Evoque has the same roofline and high shoulders of the existing model but does appear to have adopted a slightly cleaner look with inspiration taken from the larger Range Rover Velar.
Underpinning the vehicle will be a tweaked version of the D8 architecture currently in use by the Evoque. Our sources tell us that the revised platform will add some extra comfort and improve the SUV’s ride quality.
Familiar looks but improved tech.
In terms of engines, we anticipate seeing all the latest Ingenium turbocharged petrol and diesel engines from Jaguar Land Rover. Entry-level models will come equipped with front-wheel drive as standard while more expensive variants will be available with all-wheel drive. Horsepower and torque figures of the Ingenium engines remain an unknown at this stage.
One particularly interesting development for the new model will be its adoption of JLR’s mild-hybrid powertrain. This system combines a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with a small electric motor and a 48-volt electrical architecture. This version isn’t expected to launch until the 2020 model year.
Changes will continue to the interior and are expected to increase the company’s Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that includes two large touchscreens.
The new Range Rover Evoque should be presented to the world before the end of the year.
