When Rolls-Royce came out with the Phantom back in 2003, it was as if the world stood still for a brief moment. People marveled at how massive it was, with its mostly aluminum body measuring 5.83 m (230 in) in length and 2 m (78.3 in) in width.
Among its most impressive features were the rear-hinged suicide doors. Rolls-Royce even added buttons (for operating the hydraulic motors) on the C-pillars so that passengers wouldn’t have to shut the doors by reaching outside the vehicle.
With that in mind, replicating it in any way would be a tremendously difficult task, which is why just about any replica we’ve seen of it thus far has been horrendous. Remember this BMW 7-Series-based Phantom? What about this one based on a 1997 Lincoln Town Car?
The thing is, another one popped up. It’s based on a… well, actually we don’t know what it’s based on, but as far as we can tell, the donor car still had a relatively large wheelbase, while the body almost seems to feature a hatchback design at the rear.
Overall, the car is still definitely smaller than an actual Phantom, and you can easily tell by the fact that next to it is an old BMW X5, which seems larger than the Rolls wannabe.
Interestingly enough, the body panels are not that bad, even if they’re not to scale, and the overall aesthetic, at least from the front, might be able to fool someone who hasn’t seen the real Phantom/a> in person or is altogether not that interested in cars.
Then again, the execution is very poor and the end result is, unsurprisingly, lame, which is why the image ended up on a popular Reddit thread, where badly-modded cars go to die of shame.
