Skoda’s CNG-powered Octavia, the G-Tec, has been brought into the 2019MY with a few updates.
The most important one revolves around the 1.5-liter engine, which has 20 PS (20 hp / 15 kW) more power than its predecessor, offering a total of 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW). Additionally, the mill is more efficient, says Skoda, thanks to its variable intake valve timing. CO2 emissions in CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) are reduced, so the car now complies with the EU6d-TEMP emissions standard.

With a total capacity of 17.7 kg (39 lbs) in three tanks, the 2019 Skoda Octavia G-Tec can travel for up to 480 km (298 miles). One tank is positioned in front of the rear axle and is made of steel, whereas the other two are fashioned from a new composite material, said to combine ultimate safety with low weight, and can be found under the luggage compartment.
An additional petrol tank should get users from one gas station to another, with a capacity of 11.8 liters (3.1 gallons), and comes in handy when the CNG supply runs out.
Skoda is only offering the G-Tec version of the Octavia in the Combi body style only, with a choice of three trim levels called Active, Ambition and Style. All of them come with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and benefit from Skoda Connect online services, such as the Emergency Call and Care Connect.
Finally, the Skoda Connect app allows drivers to see their remaining CNG, petrol and overall range via their smart devices.
