It takes a big dose of the brave pill to be able to put a very powerful car like this tuned Toyota Supra through its paces, but it was pretty much a walk in the park for the person sitting behind the wheel.
Filmed at a drag racing event in Germany, this fourth-gen Supra didn’t race any exotic models, as its sole purpose was to beat the clock. And it managed to sprint up to a whopping 322 km/h (200 mph) in just half a mile (0.8 km)!
At this point, you may be asking what monster of an engine rocketed it to that insane speed in no time. The answer is the 2JZ – or, more accurately, a heavily modified version with a giant turbo strapped to it, alongside a number of tuned (but undisclosed) internals.
The result is said to be a whopping 1,400 PS (1,380 hp / 1,030 kW), a number that helps it push modern supercars away and puts it straight in the hypercar realm.
As the decals on the bodywork show, this Supra is the work of a German tuner called Turbo Zentrum, which chose to keep the exterior stock. They did, however, add some drag radials at the back, for extra traction under heavy acceleration – and, as you can see in the following clip, the trick really worked.
