Apollo has confirmed that all 10 examples of the Intensa Emozione (IE) hypercar it will build have been sold.
Apollo came into being after Gumpert went bust and unveiled the IE in late October 2017. Since then, the car has been shown around the world at various motoring events and created a buzz that’s almost unheard of for a new car manufacturer.
Speaking to Motor Authority, an Apollo spokesman said that each of the $2.71 million build slots had been sold. The company also revealed that it will build a handful of track-only variants for the most dedicated of customers.
Apollo hasn’t said how many track-only models it will build but did say they will among the run of 10, rather than produced in addition to 10 street-legal models.
Expect some well-known car collectors to have ordered their own Apollo IE.
Details about the track-only model are scarce but the company says it gets even more ridiculous bodywork and features a carbon fiber front splitter that can sustain almost 3000 lbs (1360 kg) of downforce.
Both the street-legal and non-street-legal Apollo IE use a Ferrari-derived 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine. Customers can opt to have this engine transformed into a beast delivering more than 1000 hp and revving to over 11,000 rpm. Alternatively, they can ‘make do’ with 780 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque.
Apollo continues development of the IE with the help of HWA, a German company which used to run a host of racing programs for Mercedes-Benz. HWA was also responsible for the creation of the CLK GTR GT1 race car and is using its expertise to ensure the IE isn’t all show and no go.
The automaker wants to commence deliveries of the Intensa Emozione in 2019.
