New Orleans authorities are searching for a stolen pickup truck in Lakeview, New Orleans, that could be tied to other crimes that occurred in the area.
The footage below shows a group of people driving up in a black Ford F-150 around noon this past Saturday, who went on to steal a carpenter’s silver F-150 parked in a driveway.
Before driving off, another person gets in the silver truck, while carrying a gun. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
According to 4WWL News, the black truck used in the robbery is believed to be the personal vehicle of a police officer that was stolen earlier on the same day.
“I heard a loud crash and that’s when I noticed the guy driving right down the street fast,” stated one Eric Marsden, who witnessed the thieves getting away. The witness went on to add that the first officer on the scene watched the video and immediately recognized the black truck.
“They’re in a black F-150… that’s my truck,” said the officer. “They stole it this morning.”
“I asked him, do you live around here. Did they steal it around here? He said, ‘No I live in the East. They stole it in New Orleans East,” added Marsden.
As for the silver F-150, apparently its windows were down and the keys were on the floor board.
“This is my home,” said Candy Stevens, the person who owned the house where the carpenter was working. “I want to feel safe here. I have to lock myself up all time. Maybe get a bigger dog next time and one that’s a little meaner.”
Police managed to recover the carpenter’s truck that very same day, in the 3200 block of Piety Street. However, the thieves are said to have remained at large, along with the black F-150.
