BMW has published the first official teaser image of the long-awaited X7 ahead of the vehicle’s public premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
The large SUV was previewed last year in the form of the Concept X7 iPerformance and this image confirms that the production vehicle’s design will stay true to the concept.
With this in mind, we can see that the X7 ha s the same slim headlights and truly gargantuan kidney grilles, giving the vehicle a rather odd-looking front fascia. Although only the front is shown in this teaser, we expect the road-going X7’s sides and rear to also look very similar to the concept.
Buyers of the 2019 BMW X7 will have a selection of powertrains at their disposal, including a 3.0-liter straight-six pumping out 335 hp and a 4.4-liter V8 with 456 hp. It’s also possible that customers in certain markets will be offered at least two diesel versions and one with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
A BMW X7 model for everyone.
Numerous M Performance variants are also thought to be on the cards. These will allegedly include a BMW X7 M50d with a quad-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder delivering 394 hp and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque. A potent X7 M50i with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that produces 522 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque is also likely.
Inside, numerous spy images have shown that the cabin will be typical BMW and include the same infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster as the sleek 8-Series. Also found within will be a center console just like the 7- and 8-Series. High-end leather, metal details, and wood inlays will also be found throughout.
Production of the 2019 BMW X7 will be handled by the company’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.
