Ford has launched a new ad campaign which appears to show an electrified Mustang.

Dubbed Built Ford Proud, the ad campaign features Bryan Cranston and will begin airing this weekend. The campaign consists of multiple ads, but the most interesting is called “The Future is Built.”

About 30 seconds into the clip, Cranston says “Talk doesn’t get things done, building does. Building like we have for the last 115 years and building for the next century.” As Cranston is speaking, the clip shows a classic Mustang and then the current model. The video then briefly shows what appears to be an electric Mustang.

While the image only appears on screen for a few seconds, the car has an aerodynamic design with a grille that is nearly fully enclosed. The model also has an illuminated blue Mustang logo which presumably hints at its eco-friendly powertrain. We can also see slender LED headlights and a curvaceous hood.

Ford didn’t mention anything about the mysterious Mustang in their press release, but it’s possible that the model is simply just a rendering to build up hype for the ad campaign. That being said, Ford is working on a Mustang Hybrid and reports have suggested the car will have an electric motor that is sandwiched between a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Rumors have suggested the Mustang Hybrid could produce around 400 hp (298 kW / 405 PS) and run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than five seconds. Those numbers remain unconfirmed, but Ford has already said the model will be “all about delivering V8-like performance with more low-end torque.”

Of course, the Mustang in the video looks more like an electric vehicle than a hybrid. The Mustang Hybrid also isn’t expected to feature radical styling changes as reports have suggested updates will be limited to hybrid badging and a revised instrument cluster with hybrid-specific displays.

Interestingly, rumors have indicated Ford is considering an electric version of the next-generation Mustang. Little is known about it and it may never see the light of day.
