The Jaguar F-Type SVR and the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon haven’t got too much in common. True, they both have V8 engines and all-wheel drive, but that’s where the similarities end.
The former is an old-school sports car while the latter is a high-performance station wagon packing the latest technology available. Still, their performance specs look very similar.
The SVR features a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 producing 575 PS (567 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). As for the E63 S, it has 612 PS (604 hp) and 850 Nm (623 lb-ft) courtesy of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.

Mated to a nine-speed auto, the AMG V8 engine allows the E63 S Wagon to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, aided by a Launch Control function. The Jag lacks launch control but its supercharged V8 is linked to an eight-speed auto that enables a 3.7-second run from a standstill to 100 km/h.
Surely, two-tenths of a second are insignificant in real life, and Carwow wanted to see if the F-Type SVR could beat the E63 S Wagon on the drag strip. After all, the British coupe’s 365kg (804lb-ft) weight advantage on the German estate might be enough to offset the torque disadvantage.
As usual, the video includes a drag race, rolling race, and a brake test. We won’t spoil it for you by giving too many details; let’s just say that the drag race had an extremely close outcome.
