Amazon announced The Grand Tour Game back in August, but we haven’t heard much about it since then. That’s changing today as the internet gaint has released a new promotional video starring James May.
Dubbed “Seamless Transitions,” the clip gives us a glimpse at how the game will recreate events seen in episodes of the series. The video is light on specifics, but May unconvincing says “The first time you transition from watching an episode to racing the episode is like being dropped straight into the cockpit of a supercar you haven’t driven yet.”
That isn’t much to go on, but Amazon has previously said the game will be heavily influenced by the third season of The Grand Tour and new episodes of the game will be released every week – likely in conjunction with new episodes of the show. Both will feature the same locations and cars and Amazon has said there will be “seamless transitions from clips of the show to gameplay.”
Unfortunately, some of the graphics look pretty dated. The cutscenes appear decent, but the gameplay graphics leave a lot to be desired. Things could improve by the time the game is launched, but that doesn’t look too promising at this point.
Regardless, The Grand Tour Game will feature original voice acting by all three co-hosts including Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. There will also be a multiplayer mode that features power-ups called High Tea and More Horsepowers.
The Grand Tour Game is “coming soon” and will be available for download on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
As for the show itself, the new season was expected to debut next month. However, The Grand Tour is missing from Amazon Prime’s November lineup so your Thanksgiving binging marathon is pretty much limited to older Bond films.
