Ligier has released a new teaser image of the sports car it will launch at the Paris Auto Show next week.

The vehicle won’t be related to company founder Guy Ligier, as the moniker is being used by Onroak Automotive under license. Nonetheless, the vehicle teased in the image above does bear an obvious similarity to the Ligier JS2 built in the early 1970s.

Look closely and you’ll notice that the new Ligier has a blue, white, and red racing livery as well as a set of large headlights and a gaping-wide front air intake. There also appear to be a couple of large air extractors on the hood.

A teaser dropped two months ago provided us with a glimpse of the vehicle’s rear end. It includes rectangular taillights similar to those of the Ford Mustang, a large rear lip spoiler, and prominent arches.

The company has confirmed that the sports car will feature a 3.7-liter V6 engine delivering 325 hp. Mated to this powerplant will be a six-speed sequential transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The car will also be exceptionally light. In fact, it’s expected to tip the scales at less than 1720 lbs (780 kg) to comply with FIA regulations for cars with engines up to 4000 cc.

While the Paris Auto Show is already underway, the Ligier will be revealed towards the end of the show on October 11. Unfortunately, it won’t be street legal and will be restricted to use on racetracks.
