The new X7 that was revealed yesterday might be all the rage right now, and rightfully so as it’s BMW‘s first foray in that segment. However, it’s not like the latest X5 that was unveiled only a few months ago has gotten old, which means that seeing one in a different setting other than an official press photo can still make for a rare sighting.
On display at BMW Abu Dhabi is this xDrive50i model, wearing a Phytonic Blue Metallic paint on the outside, and brown leather upholstery inside.
Also visible are all the M Sport bits, like the more aggressive-looking bumpers, rear diffuser, bigger wheels and of course M badges inside and out.
Compared to its predecessor, the 2019 X5 features higher quality materials in the cabin – and it really shows. You also get a new steering wheel design and a digital instrument cluster next to the 12.3-inch infotainment display. This particular example seems to be equipped with all the fancy new toys inside, although we’re not completely sure about the light-colored wood inserts next to all that brown leather.
Since this is the xDrive50i version, it means it is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that’s good for 462 PS (455 HP) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. Show it a straight patch of road and you can get it up to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.6 seconds – quite impressive for such a big and heavy vehicle.
If you live in the U.S., you can purchase a brand new X5 from $60,700, which would land you the xDrive40i version, while the xDrive50i starts from $75,750.
