Skoda will reveal the production version their third crossover, which will slot below the Kodiaq and Karoq in its range, next year.

The new SUV was previewed by the Vision X Concept at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, and the finished item will be unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, according to AutoExpress.

Essentially the Czech cousin of the Seat Arona and Volkswagen T-Cross, the crossover will be positioned against the likes of the Peugeot 2008 and Hyundai Kona and will arrive with a more conservative styling than that of the concept.

Beneath the fresh sheet panel will lie the Volkswagen Group’s MQB A0 platform. Since Skoda positions their cars at the upper end of the segments in terms of size, the yet-to-be-named crossover will reportedly have a 2,645 mm (104 in) long wheelbase and offer more space than either of its siblings.

Powering it will be an assortment of small petrol and diesel engines made by the Volkswagen Group, such as the 1.3-liter petrol from the Fabia and Octavia, available in two outputs, with 95 PS (94 hp / 70 kW) and 115 PS (113 hp / 84 kW).

A turbocharged 1.5-liter with 148 PS (146 hp / 109 kW) will allegedly be the most powerful in the range, which will also include a 1.6-liter diesel.

Skoda will try to keep the production cost of the new crossover as low as possible. As a result, while the MQB A0 platform supports AWD, it will available solely with front-wheel drive.
