Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo had a mixed weekend at the United States Grand Prix, but before the racing got underway, their team gave them a little treat.

Thanks to Aston Martin’s title sponsorship of Red Bull Racing, Ricciardo was handed the keys to a new DB11 Volante to play around in for a lap of the Circuit of the Americas.

Unlike most of its rivals on the F1 grid, Red Bull Racing is more than happy to let its drivers let their hair down between race weekends. With 21-year-old Max Verstappen in the passenger seat, the duo were bound to get up to some shenanigans. They did just that.

The F1 weekend saw its fair share of rain and the duo’s outing came as the heavens opened. However, that didn’t slow them down and instead encouraged Ricciardo to attempt to drift every single corner he could.

Ricciardo, like his teammate, is used to doing everything in his power to minimize wheel spin and oversteer when driving the RB14 F1 car. When you’re driving a rear-wheel drive monster with almost 1000 hp every weekend, however, you develop masterful levels of car control and that translates into some very impressive slides from the Australian.

Considering Ricciardo’s skills behind the wheel, perhaps he has a career in drifting when his time in F1 is over. He certainly seems much happier sliding this DB11 than he did after suffering yet another mechanical failure during Sunday’s race.
