Some F1 teams have more attractive liveries than others. Force India’s, for example, leaves something to be desired as compared to, say, Williams‘.
That’s not the be-all-and-end-all, of course, when it comes to racing, where actual performance matters more than anything. But looking at these renderings by Henky Saputro Aji, we can’t help but wish for Bentley to get into the game.
Regrettably, we have to admit, the prospect of Bentley entering Formula One seems rather unlikely. The British automaker has been part of the Volkswagen Group since the late 1990s. And VW has proven rather resilient to the temptation to enter the top racing series.
Even if it did, it’d more likely chose one of its more mass-market brands (like Seat or the VW brand itself) or one of its sports-car marques (like Lamborghini or Porsche) for its foray rather than the decidedly more upscale position that Bentley occupies.
We wouldn’t count it entirely out of the realm of possibility, though. Bentley did, after all, compete at the top level in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the earlier part of the previous decade with the Speed 8. It even won the race outright in 2003 wearing a livery not unlike this one, looking classic and understated in dark green, white, and black. So on aesthetic grounds alone, we can only hope – even if the realist within us has to admit it’s just not gonna happen.
