Ringbrothers’ First SUV Is An LS3-Powered 1971 Chevy K5 Blazer

As promised, the Ringbrothers brought to SEMA their first SUV build, a 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer restomod called “Seaker.”

Its creators say the K5 is made to exploring sandy back roads along the Florida coast, which explains the name choice. According to Jim and Mike Ring, the classic SUV project combines form and function, adding modern performance and amenities to the K5 platform. It’s not flashy, but it’s impossible to ignore.

The SUV is powered by an LS3 crate engine with a Holley Fuel System that makes 430 hp. The V8 is linked to a Bowler Performance 4L60E automatic transmission and a 4×4 system. As expected, the power plant is said to produce “a healthy growl” thanks to the custom Flowmaster exhaust.

“Seaker” uses a RideTech suspension and sits 1-inch (25-mm) higher thanks to a body lift kit. It also has larger wheel wells to make room for the custom 17-inch Circle Racing wheels shod with BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires.

Many bodywork components were custom designed and built by Ringbrothers. Those include the running boards, firewall, airbox, engine covers, fan shroud, floors and side panels. As you can see, the tuner went for a subtle approach to styling.

The build features many Ringbrothers parts currently available for purchase including hood hinges, universal truck tie downs, Pro-Touring door handles and Pro-Touring window cranks.

Inside, the K5 Blazer adopts a modern leather interior by Upholstery Unlimited and an air conditioning unit provided by Vintage Air. It also features a sound system with a touchscreen display.
