The home-bred Holden Commodore millions of Australians fell in love with may no longer exist but there are still thousands on local roads. Of them all, this VE-generation model could be the craziest.
The car started out life like any other Commodore and was once a comfortable family car. However, the owner opted to ‘tinker’ with the sedan, turning it into a tire-shredding monster so ridiculous that it almost defies logic.
For starters, it features a fully-built V8 engine with bespoke internals and topped off by a truly gargantuan supercharger that could probably swallow up whole planets. With Methanol injection and a host of other upgrades, the car delivers roughly 1000 hp at the rear wheels through a Powerglide two-speed transmission.
The Hoonigans channel on YouTube recently had the opportunity to ride shotgun in this crazy creation for some insane burnouts that put to shame pretty much every other vehicle with four wheels.
While this Commodore is a drag car and burnout monster first and foremost, it can still be driven on the street and with the exception of the huge blower, looks largely stock. Save for a race display, the interior is also just like it was when it left the factory.
