Mercedes-AMG introduced the all-new G63 back in February, but the automaker has finally announced U.S. pricing will start at $147,500.
Set to arrive at dealerships early next year, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 627 lb-ft (849 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission which enables the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. Given enough room, the model can eventually hit a top speed of up to 149 mph (239 km/h) with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.
Of course, the upgrades aren’t limited to the engine compartment as the G63 has an adaptive damping sport suspension. Other highlights include a strut tower brace, a performance exhaust and a rear-biased AMG Performance all-wheel drive system.
Besides the performance tweaks, the G63 has an aggressive front fascia with larger air intakes and an AMG-specific grille. The model also has LED lighting units, unique wheel arches and standard running boards. Other sporty touches include a high-performance braking system with perforated discs that are grabbed by red calipers.
Interior changes are more modest as drivers will find an AMG Performance steering wheel and plenty of AMG badging. The model also has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 12.3-inch infotainment system.
Fans who can’t wait to get their hands on the all-new G-Class are in luck as Mercedes has announced the 2019 G 550 is now available. Sporting a base price of $124,500, the model has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 416 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque.
Note: Prices exclude a $995 destination and delivery fee
