Live in a cold climate that gets lots of snow? A four-wheel-drive pickup truck could be just the ticket to get through whatever the winter has to throw at you. And FCA is driving that point home with the launch of the Ram 1500 North edition.
Specially geared fo the winter season, the North edition comes in 4×4 Crew Cab configuration and is based on the near-base Big Horn trim level (which sits just above the bare-bones Tradesman), but upgrades with an array of added equipment.
The full-size, light-duty truck packs a one-inch lifted suspension, 4×4 transfer case, electric-locking rear axle, tow hooks, and Falken snow tires. It also has an engine-block heater, remote start, and heated seats, steering wheel, and folding mirrors. And the bumpers, grille, mirrors, and door handles are all color-keyed to match the exterior paint.
The 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system features SiriusXM Travel Link Weather data, the cab gets Mopar all-weather floor mats, and the driver’s seat is adjustable 12 ways with a four-way power lumbar support – which may be just the thing for supporting your back after shoveling the driveway.
“The Ram 1500 North is more than a great-looking pickup, it offers cold-weather content for truck owners who require a no-compromise 4×4 as part of their daily regimen,” said Ram chief Reid Bigland. “A factory lift, locking rear axle and all-weather tires deliver confidence when your path is anything but clear.”
Buyers can choose between short or long beds with either the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 eTorque mild hybrid or the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 (with or without the eTorque system). Ram dealers are taking orders now, starting at $45,890 (plus $1,695 destination).
