Deliveries of the Cupra Ateca haven’t even started, and a tuned version is already coming our way.

ABT Sportsline will become the first company to release a tuning kit for the Spanish performance SUV at this year’s Essen Motor Show that takes place between December 1-9. While the standard model offers a healthy output of 300 PS (296 hp) and an equally satisfying peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), ABT takes things one step further.

The power kit lifts the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine’s output to 350 PS (345 hp) and the maximum torque to 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) between 2,000 and 5,200 rpm.

At 5.0 seconds, the tuned Ateca is 0.2-seconds quicker to the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint than the stock model thanks to the extra power and standard launch control system. Top speed is now 255 km/h (158 mph), or 8 km/h (5 mph) faster than the factory version.

The souped-up engine is accompanied by a set of lowering springs from ABT Sportsline to ensure the SUV copes with the enhanced performance. No other hardware changes are made to the SUV, which still features a seven-speed DSG transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the 4Drive all-wheel-drive system.

Styling-wise, the 20-inch ABT Sport GR alloy wheels are the only update available at the moment.
