What do you get when you mix a rear-wheel drive sports coupe with a roundabout and the willingness, on the driver’s part, to have some fun? That’s right, some sideways action.

The protagonist in this case is a BMW M2 Competition, and the scenario included some urban power sliding, late at night, at an undisclosed location.

As for the driver, he’s known as ‘PowerslideLover’ on Instagram, and he described the BMW M2 Competition as being “the perfect city car”. Which, in a way, it is: it has compact dimensions, can sit four (five at a squeeze), and has a nice boot for all your groceries.

The fact that it packs a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-pot shared with the larger M3 and M4, paired to a standard six-speed manual or an optional dual-clutch seven-speed transmission, is a nice bonus. Or at least that’s a (poor) excuse to the missus when she questions the reasons for buying an M2.

The driver took advantage of the rear-wheel drive sports coupe’s 410 PS (405 hp / 301 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque to punish those rear tires for a while. And, probably, wake up the neighbors, some of whom must have been annoyed at that.

Luckily for him, everything went smooth that night, and nobody was arrested, as long as the camera kept filming at least. Also, with the street being empty, no traffic was disturbed either, and although we’re not the ones without sin to through rocks to the guy, such behavior is best reserved for the track where everything is under control.
