The Volkswagen Touareg has been a regular at ABT Sportsline ever since it first broke cover some 16 years ago, so the new generation couldn’t have missed out on the tuner’s upgrades.
Said to “ensure optimum power delivery”, the ABT engine control unit has been applied to this 3.0-liter TDI model. As a result, the output has gone up from 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, to 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW) and 650 Nm (479lb-ft) of torque.

Next, the tuner has concentrated its efforts on the wheels. Thus, the Volkswagen Touareg that you see pictured here sports 22-inch rims, from their GR series. Additionally, ABT Sportsline can fit other rims as well, from 20- to 22-inches in size, called DR, ER-C and FR-C.
Not much is going on inside for the time being. However, opening the front doors reveals new entrance lights. These have replaced the traditional ones and project the ABT logo onto the asphalt.
That’s about all she wrote for now as far as these upgrades for the latest Volkswagen Touareg go. However, since this is still pretty much a brand new SUV, it’s likely that the German tuner will drop more goodies for it in due course. Meanwhile, let’s take a closer look at it in the image gallery. Pretty sleek, right?
