The Chiron’s top speed is a very delicate subject over at Bugatti. Some say that it might not be as quick as the Koenigsegg Agera RS, whereas others simply believe that they’re not interested in proving anything, at least not right now.
The Swedish hypercar managed to hit 284.3 mph (457.5 km/h). It also smashed the Chiron’s 0-249-0 mph (0-400-0 km/h) record by 5 seconds. So, it’s definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Bugatti’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, said he doesn’t know how fast the Chiron is since he has “a lot on his plate” and “the speed test is not a priority”. He previously admitted that the Chiron cannot hit 300 mph (483 km/h), as there are no tires that are certified for this speed, and then came back with a new statement in which he explained he’s not interested in a top speed run.

However, even with the speed limiter in place, the Chiron can top out at 261 mph (420 km/h). And if you’re curious how the scenery looks at that dizzying speed, then all you have to do is scroll down and watch this unofficial video.
The run rook place at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, in Florida, and the Bugatti required 2.7 miles (4.3 km) of straight line acceleration to eventually top out.
Thanks to the massive, quad turbocharged W16 engine, the hypercar sounds like a fighter jet taking off under heavy acceleration, so you might want to consider turning up the volume for a while.
