Looking at the numbers, this should be a highly competitive drag race between two supercars that couldn’t be more different once you start examining their specs.
The Lamborghini Aventador is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 churning out 700 PS (690 HP) and 690 Nm (507 lb-ft) of torque. It’s a beast of a power unit and it helps the Italian exotic reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 2.9 seconds, before maxing out at 350 km/h (217 mph).
Meanwhile, the Ford GT is a whole different type of animal. Sure, they’re both supercars and they’re both aimed at customers with deep pockets, but the GT is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that’s good for 656 PS (647 HP) and 745 Nm (550 lb-ft) of torque.
Before the drag racen took place, the Ford GT put up a very quick 1/4 mile time on its own, with VBOX data showing that it covered the distance in just 10.89 seconds at 132.3 mph (212.9 km/h), hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.11 seconds, 100 mph (161 km/h) in 6.42 seconds, and needed just 7.2 seconds to get from 60 to 130 mph (209 km/h).
So, in a straight line, the Ford is pretty much as quick as the Lambo if you’re only counting to 60 or 62 mph. Beyond that… well, check out the clip and find out!
