The last adjective one could think of using when describing an accident involving a train and an automobile would be “funny.”
Yet, the word fits this particular crash like a glove. The dashcam video captured at a railroad crossing in Arizona shows a car that stopped too close to the railway tracks.
The train operator surely noticed that because they sounded the horn repeatedly and in an alert manner as they got closer to the car. The driver didn’t get the message until it was too late, though.
As the train got about a yard away from the sedan, the driver engaged reverse. It was too little, too late, though, as the locomotive hit the front end of the car.

Fortunately for the driver, the train traveled very slowly at the moment of the impact and came to a halt immediately after. As a result, the accident only caused minor dents to the car. Funnily enough, the car started reversing after the initial impact, only to hit the train once again.
A few seconds after that, the driver fled the scene, presumably to stop embarrassing themselves even further. Just how many people have you seen driving off after getting hit by a train?
Not many, obviously. Fortunately, not many drivers make such poor judgments either and stop their cars so close to the rail tracks. If the train had carried more speed heading to the crossing, things would have become very dramatic for the driver. Let’s just hope he or she learns something valuable from this encounter.
