After the launch of the new Gladiator JT pickup, one might have expected custom truck projects based on the previous JK generation to become more attainable.
That doesn’t apply to this one, though – and for good reason. We’re talking about a Hellcat-powered, 6×6 Wrangler truck that is up for sale on Craigslist for an eye-watering $289,900; that’s five Gladiator Rubicon pickups.
Why is it so expensive, though? As you can imagine, a lot of work went into converting this 2017 Wrangler JK into a three-axle pickup truck powered by a 707 hp 6.2-liter V8 engine.
Created by Huntington Beach-based Wild Boar Off-Road, this very example was exhibited at the 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Besides having an extra axle, it also features a 5-inch (127-mm) lift kit and 35-inch off-road tires mounted on custom wheels so that it can go over any type of terrain.
The truck’s rugged character is also reflected in its design. It sports a custom-made carbon fiber hood scoop, custom built rack, a more aggressive-looking front fascia and grille in gloss black, as well as gloss black wheel arch extensions. The steel bumpers feature tow hooks, with the one at the front also incorporating a winch and a bull bar with an LED light strip at the top.
There’s a second LED light bar mounted on the roof, with further upgrades including an all-leather interior featuring “high-quality materials and craftsmanship,” according to the Craigslist ad.
