Every year, Jeremy Clarkson entertains us with his witty humor on the small screen but he also remains a well-respected automotive journalist and drives some of the industry’s best (and worst) vehicles each and every year.
With 2018 fast coming to an end, Clarkson has announced his five best cars of the year during his Driving column in The Sunday Times. Unsurprisingly, none of them are particularly affordable.
Clarkson’s favorite car of this year proved to be the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. He first drove a prototype towards the end of 2017 before having a more in-depth experience with the supercar this year. According to Jezza, the Performante’s screaming 5.2-liter V10 engine makes it significantly more exciting than any of its competitors.
What was your car of 2018?
A surprise inclusion to Clarkson’s list of five best cars for 2018 is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. We all know that Clarkson has never been a fan of the 911 but with the GT2 RS, he awarded it a full five stars, making it the only car other than the Performante to get a perfect score.
Another vehicle which seriously impressed Clarkson this year was the Alpina B5 which the journalist says is the best 5-Series he’s ever driven. Combining exceptional comfort with a twin-turbo V8 delivering 600 hp, the B5 is the perfect option for those that want something slightly more refined and docile than the M5.
The final two vehicles to receive praise from Clarkson this year were the new Aston Martin Vantage and the latest Bentley Continental GT.
